Ahhhh - a rest day in Luchon, and the sun is shining and the world is good...
Time for a bit of bike cleaning and maintenance - the hotel has a convenient parking lot with water and space.
Guess whose mum has a Whirlpool?
Coffee time, so we head odd to do some washing in the laundromat...
...and watch the world go by on the main street.
There's a cable car just one block from the main street - presumably for the ski season, but closed at the moment.
In fact, there's a Swiss Alps kind of feel in some parts of Luchon.
At the end of the main street are the thermal baths - an early 19th century construction over the earlier Roman baths.
These baths explain the unusually large number of "old" people in town. Bike riding (summer) and skiing (winter) explains the rest of the old people in town.
It's an impressive entrance to the spa baths - too bad they only appear to open in the mornings, Monday to Friday - I'm sure this is a French, rather than Roman, timetable.
The Pyrenees are big fuck-off mountains, and here's the proof.
Another of the many past-times in Luchon is gliding.
Several of us spent a part of the afternoon watching them from our bedroom windows.
Time for Happy Hour - not so happy for this bus driver, nor for the owner of this illegally parked car.
As the sun goes down in Luchon...
...we head for the nearby tapas bar and get prepared for our entry into Spain tomorrow.
And John and Dominic from Bike Adventures return from their big day on the Col D'Aspin and the Col de Tourmelet - we all felt like wimps, and had another drink.
As the sun set on another perfect day.
